Where the story happens
Each stop, the moment of the story it belongs to, and what is there today.
| Stop | In the story | Today |
|---|---|---|
| 1. St Paul's Cathedral | Sequence 5: Evie finds the key to the Shroud's vault in a hidden room at the top, and Lucy Thorne snatches it. | Wren's cathedral, declared complete in 1711; the secret room is invented, and entry is ticketed. |
| 2. Blackfriars Bridge | Sequence 6: the Thames carries Evie to the Tower to win back the key. | The bridge Victoria opened in 1869, a year after the game, beside the old railway columns. |
| 3. Dickens's office, Wellington Street | Dickens's Ghost Club side cases, from Spring-heeled Jack to a haunted house in Berkeley Square. | A plaque at number 26 marks his magazine office and flat, 1859 to 1870. |
| 4. Leicester Square (the Alhambra) | Sequence 8: Roth's one-night show at the Alhambra ends with the hall in flames and Jacob in the rafters. | The Odeon stands where the Alhambra was; the real fire came in 1882. |
| 5. Charing Cross Station | A flashback to Sequence 5: as the game tells it, Jacob drives Pearl Attaway's train here after End of the Line. | The 1864 station and its 1860s Eleanor Cross, in front of Barry's hotel. |
| 6. Big Ben | Two flashbacks: Evie runs Parliament's roofs for Bell's free telegraph line, and Jacob hunts the Earl of Cardigan. | The clock tower, with the St Thomas' Hospital that opened in 1871 across the river. |
| 7. Buckingham Palace | Sequence 9: the Queen's ball, the vault below and the final fight with Starrick. | The palace front, refaced in Portland stone in 1913; the vault and the Shroud are invented. |
About this tour
On foot you discover how small the Fryes' London is. The cathedral where Evie lost the key, the river that carried her to the Tower, Dickens's office, Roth's theater, Big Ben and the palace sit within an easy morning's walk, and the game's rooftops become real streets under your feet. And the real 1868 keeps breaking through the fiction, from a brand-new station to a hospital on the move. If you'd like company on your next stroll, open the Walk With Me live map to find other people out walking London.

Hear stop 1: St Paul's Cathedral
The first 30 seconds, exactly as you'll hear them on the street.
You're in front of the west steps of St Paul's Cathedral. Look up past the two towers to the great dome behind them. That dome is where the story starts.
In the game this is Sequence 5. Clues left by Edward Kenway, the pirate turned Assassin from an earlier game, send Evie first to the Monument, the column to the Great Fire about a kilometer east of here. She sets a disc at its base, climbs to the top, sets another, and the sculpture up there points her to this cathedral.
What costs extra
1 stop has a ticket to go inside. The story plays outside, so going in is your choice.

Questions
How long does it really take?
1 h 23 of walking plus 20 minutes of stories, so plan for about 1 h 43 with stops.
Is this an official Ubisoft tour?
No. It is an unofficial fan walk, not made with or endorsed by Ubisoft.
Do I need to have played the game?
It helps, but each stop tells the game scene first and then the real place in 1868, so the history works on its own. Expect spoilers right to the end.
