Where the story happens
Each stop, the moment of the story it belongs to, and what is there today.
| Stop | In the story | Today |
|---|---|---|
| 1. National Gallery | Skyfall (2012): Bond meets the young new Q on a bench before Turner's The Fighting Temeraire. | Free to enter; the painting has changed rooms since filming, so check where it hangs. |
| 2. Admiralty Arch & Old Admiralty | Spectre (2015): a car chase starts at the top of The Mall, and a doorway by the arch plays a safe house exit. | Government offices, seen from outside; Fleming worked in Room 39 here from 1939. |
| 3. The Old War Office | The facade in five films, Octopussy to Spectre; Spectre closes with a DB5 driving away along Whitehall. | Raffles London at The OWO since 2023, with bars and restaurants open to the public. |
| 4. Westminster station | Skyfall: Bond's chase after Silva runs up the stairs at Parliament Street and Great George Street. | A busy working station; the train crash later in the chase was filmed elsewhere. |
| 5. Westminster Bridge | Spectre's finale: a fleeing helicopter comes down on the bridge, and Bond confronts Blofeld. | One of London's busiest sidewalks, with Parliament beside you and the London Eye across the river. |
| 6. Lambeth Bridge | Spectre: the speedboat and helicopter chase, shot on a closed bridge on the night of 17 May 2015. | A road bridge with Lambeth Palace at one end and the riverside path you just walked. |
| 7. Vauxhall Bridge | Skyfall: from her car on this bridge, M watches an explosion hit the MI6 building. | An ordinary road bridge, with the real MI6 building in full view. |
| 8. MI6 Building, Vauxhall Cross | On screen since GoldenEye: attacked in The World Is Not Enough, blown up in Skyfall, back again in Spectre. | SIS headquarters since 1994; a working building, so keep moving and don't film its security. |
About this tour
Bond's London isn't spread out. Fleming's wartime desk, the building from five Bond films, the Skyfall chase, the Spectre finale and the real MI6 all sit along one easy line from Trafalgar Square and along the river. On foot, you feel how close they are, and how the films used real, everyday places: a gallery bench, a tube stairway, a bridge you can cross on a lunch break. Walking it also lets you rewind a chase and stand about where M stood. If you'd like company along the way, open the Walk With Me live map to find other people out walking London.
