A taste of the narration
You're on the Place de la Bastille, and the fortress is gone. Look down: a line of larger paving stones traces its walls, and at number 3 a plaque from 1880 shows its plan.Stop 1, Place de la Bastille
About this tour
Arno's Paris is real enough to walk in a morning. On foot you feel how close it all was: the prison, the cathedral, the tribunal and the scaffold, an easy stroll apart. You see the game's rooftops from the street, and you stand where the Revolution's real victims died. If you'd like company on your next stroll, open the Walk With Me live map to find other people out walking Paris.
The route
5.8 km in walking order from Place de la Bastille to Place de la Concorde. Stop 1 is free in the app.

- 8Tuileries Palace site (Arc du Carrousel)The small triumphal arch beside the lost Tuileries Palace, stormed in August 1792, and the young officer Arno meets inside.
- 9Place de la ConcordeThe guillotine's old square, where the king and later Robespierre died, the game's finale, and a bridge that closes the loop.
Where the story happens
Each stop, the moment of the story it belongs to, and what is there today.
| Stop | In the story | Today |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Place de la Bastille | Arno's cell, shared with the Assassin Pierre Bellec, who trains him; de Sade and Whyte nearby. | An open square; larger paving stones trace the walls, and a plaque from 1880 shows the plan. |
| 2. Square Henri-Galli (Bastille stones) | The storming: Arno and Bellec slip out in the chaos. | Three courses of the Liberty Tower's foundations, found in 1899 and rebuilt here. |
| 3. Île Saint-Louis (Café Théâtre) | The Café Théâtre, Arno's base above the Assassins' headquarters. | Tall seventeenth-century houses on rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île; the café is invented. |
| 4. Notre-Dame | Arno wins back the keys and kills the Templar Sivert in a confessional. | The cathedral, with nineteenth-century kings on its front; the old heads are in the Musée de Cluny. |
| 5. Sainte-Chapelle & Conciergerie | The leap of faith into the sanctuary, a raid for a Templar ledger, and a fight in 1791. | A ticketed chapel and former prison in the Palais de Justice; no such fight ever happened. |
| 6. Place du Châtelet | September 1792: Arno frees captured guards from the Templar Rouille at the Grand Châtelet. | The Palm Fountain between two theaters; the fortress was demolished between 1802 and 1810. |
| 7. Palais-Royal Garden | 20 January 1793: Arno tracks the deputy Le Peletier to a café here at dinner. | A long garden framed by arcades, where the real deputy's story also played out. |
| 8. Tuileries Palace site (Arc du Carrousel) | 10 August 1792: the palace under siege, and a young artillery officer in the king's office. | Open ground west of the Arc du Carrousel; the palace was burned in 1871. |
| 9. Place de la Concorde | The king's execution, Arno's break with Élise; the finale moves on to the Hôtel de Ville and the Temple. | The obelisk from Luxor, raised in 1836 on the former Place de la Révolution. |
